Madison, WI – In celebration of the American Bar Association’s Mediation Week, the Dispute Resolution (DR) Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Association of Mediators (WAM) are hosting their own Mediation Week events during the week of Oct.12, 2015. Each day the group will offer no-cost mediation for pending cases or disputes in a different city across the state.

-Tuesday, October 13: La Crosse County Courthouse
-Wednesday, October 14: Marathon County Courthouse
-Thursday, October 15: Winnebago County Courthouse
-Friday, October 16: Dane County Courthouse

The DR Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin encourages lawyers, courts, and the public to embrace the variety of dispute resolution methods which offer an alternative to litigation. Members include attorneys and judges who promote, practice, and develop alternative methods of dispute resolution. Additionally, members train mediators and arbitrators, and teach lawyers how to serve as advocates in related contexts. Members also provide career support to practitioners which includes assistance in the development of dispute resolution techniques and networking with other dispute resolution professionals. The section creates standards for the growing profession, and coordinates with other dispute resolution organizations.
WAM is a non-profit association of professional mediators, volunteer mediators, and individuals interested in the field of mediation. WAM’s roots go back to 1983 when a small group of divorce mediators formed an organization to promote their professional interests. Since that time WAM has grown to nearly 300 members including members from a number of states, several foreign countries, and nearly every area of mediation. WAM’s mission is to promote and develop the use and practice of cooperative conflict resolution through mediation.
