Dan Isenberg, former Harvard professor, venture capitalist, tech entrepreneur and founder of Scale Up Milwaukee, will speak about how to scale technology ventures at the Thursday July 9th meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network’s Milwaukee chapter in Wauwatosa.
The evening event will take place at UW-Milwaukee’s Innovation Accelerator, 1225 Discovery Parkway. Registration, networking and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 4:30 p.m, with the presentations starting at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for students, $25 for WIN members and Milwaukee County Research Park tenants, $35 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships.
Scale Up Milwaukee is an initiative of the Greater Milwaukee Committee focused on fostering a growth-obsessed and growth-enabled region. The Scalerator program, Scale Up Milwaukee’s 6-month intense growth-training program for entrepreneurs, has graduated two classes with an average planned growth of 41 percent in revenues in 2015.
Isenberg is the economic development consultant hired by the Greater Milwaukee Committee for the Scale Up Milwaukee initiative. He is the professor of Entrepreneurship Practice at Babson Executive and Enterprise Education. Since 1981, he has been an entrepreneurship professor at Harvard and Columbia universities; in Reykjavik, Iceland; and the Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology. For 15 years, Isenberg was an entrepreneur and venture capitalist in Israel, and has been an active angel investor in more than a dozen ventures in 10 countries.
“Scaling companies is no less important than starting them, and Dan Isenberg’s experience in what works has the potential to contribute heavily to the success of the Milwaukee area,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council.
