UW Health, ProHealth Care and Aurora Health Care: Announce name for Pewaukee cancer center

Community is invited to open house on Saturday, July 18

Waukesha, Wis. – UW Health, ProHealth Care and Aurora Health Care announced today that the new cancer center in Pewaukee, where patients will benefit from the combined expertise of all three systems, will be named the UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care.

UW Health, with its Carbone Cancer Center the only federally designated comprehensive cancer center in Wisconsin, will provide medical direction for the treatment of all patients at the Pewaukee cancer center.

The state-of-the-art cancer center is nearing completion along Highway 164 just north of Interstate 94.

The building, which will open Aug. 10, will bring together at one convenient location all of the physicians, staff, diagnostics and treatment technology cancer patients need.

The three health care systems also announced that they will hold a free community open house at the new cancer center from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 18. Area families will be able to tour the building, meet clinical professionals and enjoy food and beverages. They also will be able to walk through the MEGA Body display, a 50-foot-long model of the entire human body that provides a way for children and adults to learn about body parts and systems and emphasizes the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Those who attend the event also will receive a first-aid kit.

The new cancer center is the centerpiece of a collaborative relationship among UW Health, ProHealth Care and Aurora Health Care. At the new cancer center, the three health care systems will work together to provide medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, ancillary services and imaging. The collaboration will help ensure that cancer care will be both comprehensive and easy to navigate for patients.
