(March 17, 2015) GREEN BAY – With tax day inching closer, accounting students at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College are providing free tax services in Green Bay and Marinette.

Individuals and families whose household income is under $60,000 are eligible to receive tax assistance through IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

VITA is an IRS-sponsored program that offers free basic tax preparation to people with low to moderate incomes by trained volunteers who have passed certification tests. Services include filing for the Homestead Tax Credit and tax returns.

VITA is also part of service learning at NWTC where students can apply their skills to help the community. The College is nationally recognized on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

Appointments for VITA tax services are available at the Goodwill on West Mason Street in Green Bay.

To make an appointment in Green Bay:

* Call (920) 491-2655

* Email nwtc.vita@nwtc.edu

Services are also available through NWTC-Marinette. For details, call (715) 735-7785.
