Reconstruction work begins March 30

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss the upcoming reconstruction of US 14 (Main Street) in the Village of Cross Plains. An open house meeting is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 at Glacier Creek Middle School Cafetorium, 2800 Military Road, Cross Plains. There will be a brief presentation at 6:30pm.

The reconstruction of US 14 between County KP and Westview Court in Cross Plains is scheduled to begin March 30. The highway will be closed to through traffic between County KP and County P until mid-October. A detour will utilize County KP, Bourbon Street, and County P. An alternate route will also be posted using WIS 78 and US 12.

Access will be permitted to local businesses in the work zone. Motorists are encouraged to continue to patronize the businesses during construction.

The $10.4 million reconstruction includes new utilities, pavement, sidewalk, and bridge over Brewery Creek. County P will be realigned to provide a more efficient and safer intersection with US 14. The project will improve traffic safety and operations through the community.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement and construction staging will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Matthew Dapp at (608) 246-5353. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Matthew Dapp, 2101 Wright Street, Madison WI 53704, or Matthew.Dapp@dot.wi.gov.
