Clark Dietz wins ACEC-WI State Finalist Award

Kenosha, WI, 02.23.2015 – Clark Dietz, Inc. has been awarded an ACEC Wisconsin 2015 Engineering Excellence State Finalist Award in Water and Stormwater for providing engineering design for the Farm Trace Bypass Storm Sewer and Detention Basin project. This project alleviated flooding problems in the Farm Trace subdivision caused by inadequate storm sewers, flood routing, and detention ponds.

The Farm Trace Bypass Storm Sewer and Detention Basin redirects the 153 acres of offsite flow around the subdivision east to a new detention basin at the northwest corner of Steger Road and Central Park Avenue. The detention facility discharges to a 36-inch storm sewer at Central Park Avenue owned by the adjacent municipality. The detention basin helps reduce the flow of stormwater into the adjacent municipality’s sewer system.

The process of designing and constructing the Farm Trace Bypass Storm Sewer and Detention Basin exemplifies the value of the service engineers provide and provides testimony to how collaboration among municipalities and multiple agencies can truly improve communities. The bypass storm sewer and detention basin significantly reduce flooding in the Farm Trace subdivision and reduces stormwater flows at Central Park Avenue, improving the quality of life for those who live in both Richton Park and the neighboring municipality.
