Milwaukee Press Club: Endowment 2015 high school journalism grants

The application process is underway for the 2015 Milwaukee Press Club (MPC) Endowment’s High School Journalism Grants.

Recognizing the importance of the advancement of journalism in the urban environment, the grant program supports education and excellence in journalism and the media throughout Milwaukee County high schools.

Two $500 grants will provide funding to programs at public or private high schools located in Milwaukee County. The journalism programs should be aimed at educating students about journalism, providing hands-on experience, and encouraging students to pursue careers in journalism, communications or a related field. Past recipients have included St. Joan Antida, Alexander Hamilton, Pius XI, Messmer, Milwaukee Academy of Science and Wauwatosa West.

In addition to the cash award, three students from each school and an adult advisor will be invited to attend the May 15, 2015 Milwaukee Press Club Gridiron dinner at no charge.

Student journalism organizations/clubs or academic classes should complete the grant application, which is available at http://www.milwaukeepressclub.org/mpc-endowment/high-school-grants/ and submit it via email to Barbara Haig, bhaig@haigjackson.com, by the April 3, 2015 deadline.
