College Presents Dream Week to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

Madison, Wis. (Jan. 15, 2015) – Edgewood College will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with DREAM Week January 20 through 23, 2015.

On Tuesday January 20, events begin with an Open Mic with the Poetry Club on campus at 11:30 am. That evening, the film “The Message: True Accounts of Being a Black Student on a Majority White Campus” will be shown at 5:00 pm, in Anderson Auditorium with discussion to follow.

On Wednesday, January 21, faculty and staff participate in a working lunch with a moderated discussion on “What’s Race Got to Do With It?” Later in the day, the film “Dear White People” will be presented at 5:00 pm in Anderson Auditorium, with a discussion to follow.

On Thursday, January 22, there is a “Read-In” scheduled from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, in the President’s Suite on campus. A roundtable discussion is set for 11:30 am – 1:00 pm in the President’s Conference Room. DREAM Week continues that evening with a campus wide “Walk-Out” and Candlelight Vigil. Those events begin at 4:30 pm at the entrance to Predolin Hall.

DREAM Week 2015 concludes with the Edgewood College MLK Student Leadership & Award Banquet at 7:00 pm in the Washburn Heritage Room. This leadership banquet honors the work of Dr. King and recognizes the great achievements of the College’s students, who are committed to building a just and compassionate world.
