Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) and Horicon Bank announced today that the bank pledged $25,000 to assist the organization in its mission to provide access to the arts.
“We are honored and thankful for this generous donation from Horicon Bank,” said Kevin Miller, THELMA Executive Director. “It is with this contribution and others like it that THELMA can continue to provide access to the arts for our community.”
Horicon Bank has a tradition steeped in art. Fred C. Schwertfeger, vice-president at Horicon Bank, is a member of the Wisconsin Arts Board, a board member of the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, as well as serving as the president of the Friends of Horicon Marsh. He studied Art History at the University of St. Andrews and Oxford University, Scotland, French in Paris at the Sorbonne, worked in Washington DC with the artist Edward Knippers and published exhibition reviews and other cultural essays for Gadfly magazine. Schwertfeger also lived in the London area for four years working for an art website.
“The arts are very important to the health and strength of our community and Horicon Bank strongly shares that sentiment,” Schwertfeger said. “It’s vital that we provide arts programs to the widest audience possible and Horicon Bank would like to do its part in those efforts.”
THELMA provides over 100 free events a year, and has affordable membership dues providing members with discounted rates for concerts, films and art exhibits. The two- level Contemporary Wing has free admission for all.
THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and Entertainment District. THELMA is a member-based, privately-funded non-profit dedicated to providing experiences not readily available in the area. Intimate concerts in the Great Hall, street concerts with major performers, indoor films, and art from world- renowned artists are available at THELMA. THELMA also offers a stunning backdrop for weddings, meetings and all social and corporate gatherings.
