MADISON, WI – More than 4,000 high school and college men’s basketball coaches, including Coach Bo Ryan and his Wisconsin Basketball staff, will swap their dress shoes for sneakers with their usual game attire during the January 20th game against the Iowa Hawkeyes to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society’s efforts to finish the fight against cancer. Corporations in Wisconsin are encouraged to join Coach Ryan by participating in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Corporate Challenge. The Suits And Sneakers Challenge, commonly known as a “Wear Your Sneakers to Work Day,” engages basketball fans throughout the nation and allows them an opportunity to make a difference in the fight against cancer at their workplace in a fun and comfortable way!

“Our employees love it, and our customers get a kick out of it too,” said Allen Foster, Vice President/General Manager of Smart Motors regarding why they chose to support the fight against cancer. “The American Cancer Society has a lofty fundraising goal this year. Smart Motors is doing our part by having our own Suits & Sneakers day at the dealership, and I challenge other area businesses to do the same. To help finish the fight against cancer.”

Individual employees make a minimum donation of $5 to the American Cancer Society for the opportunity to wear sneakers to work on Tuesday, January 20th, or any time that works best for you and your company between January and April 2015. Wearing sneakers is a simple act and an easy way for the American Cancer Society to remind people about all the ways they can reduce their risk of cancer; like eating right, exercising, making healthy lifestyle choices, and following the Society’s recommended cancer screening guidelines.

This year’s goal is to raise $20,000 during the four-month period of the Suits And Sneakers program.
