GREEN BAY, Wis.—Nov. 30, 2014—The Green Bay Packers and WPS Health Insurance paid special tribute to Marine Corps Captain Brandon Mills during Sunday’s Packers-Patriots game for Operation Fan Mail.

Mills, originally from Decatur, Tennessee, joined the Marines in 2004. He served as the Battalion Logistics Officer for 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, and was responsible for the sustainment and maintenance of the battalion. He deployed to Afghanistan with this battalion in 2012 and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding service in supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

He also served two tours in Iraq in 2007 and 2008, and has received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, as well as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Mills is currently serving at the Pentagon as the Marine White House Liaison Officer for the Secretary of the Navy. In this role, he manages the Presidential Support Program and conducts research and provides responses to Marine Corps related inquiries submitted to the White House on behalf of the President.

Mills and his wife, Nora, have been married seven years and have two sons, Andersen and Nathan.

Operation Fan Mail, which debuted in 2007, is designed to recognize families with a member who is on active duty. The Packers and WPS Health Insurance will host a family at each 2014 home game and recognize them on the field during pregame activities. A total of 71 families have been recognized through the program thus far.

To choose families, the Packers and WPS Health Insurance are asking interested families, or friends of eligible families, to submit an essay, 500 words or less, on why a particular fan should be saluted. Essays can be sent to: Operation Fan Mail, P.O. Box 10628, Green Bay, WI, 54307-0628. Essays also can be submitted to the Packers online at http://nfl.packers.com/gameday/gameday_promotions/operation_fan_mail.

In addition to being recognized on-field prior to the game, selected families receive four tickets to the game and a care package from WPS.

Families intended for recognition are those that have a member serving on active duty. The family member can be a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter or sibling.
