Harwood Celebrates 25th Anniversary with New Look

Harwood Place’s renovation coincides with the facility’s 25th anniversary celebration and includes $455,000 of work concentrated on the first floor of the building. The new space features:

Welcoming new entry lobby and adjoining common areas, office space, and fireplace.

Updated community room and chapel including new sound system with hearing assistive inductive loop system to benefit hearing-impaired residents; upgrade to professional grade audio systems and speakers. This project was completed through a Match grant provided by one of Harwood’s residents.

Resident art featured on a rotating basis using a new gallery display system.

Makeover of gift shop and administrative and foundation offices.

This latest update is year two of a four year plan at Harwood Place. David Raysich, President of Plunkett Raysich Architects and Chairman of the Lutheran Home Foundation Board of Directors donated architectural plans for both properties.

“The impact of these projects is significant not only for the residents but the community as well,” stated Lutheran Home & Harwood Place President & CEO Scott McFadden. “The new audio video technology will enhance the worship experience for all denominations who participate, as well as those who watch the broadcast in their rooms.”

“We are so grateful for the donors and the community who made these renovations possible,” McFadden added. He adds that the public is welcome to visit and enjoy worship services as well.

The grand opening for the Chapel and Hardt Hall will be held at the Lutheran Home, 7500 W. North Avenue in Wauwatosa on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 3:30-6PM.
