VOX CONCERT SERIES RECEIVES RECOGNITION AS AN EXCLUSIVE KICKSTARTER STAFF PICK, PROJECT GOAL TO RAISE $15,000 TOWARD MUSIC VENUE IN MARSHFIELD
The Vox Concert Series’ “The ‘Cheesiest’ Kickstarter Project Ever” has received special recognition and will be featured as an exclusive Kickstarter Staff Pick and New & Noteworthy project. The project, created to help raise money toward the establishment of a full time Vox Concert venue, was selected from thousands of active projects by Kickstarter staff to be highlighted in the organizations newsletter, website, and social media channels. The Vox campaign will also be the featured topic of a music business blog called “Ari’s Take” that is distributed nationally, for their work bringing the emerging artist music scene to rural Wisconsin.
Musicians from across the country have been throwing their support (financial and social sharing) behind Vox’s crowd funding campaign that offers “gratitude and a uniquely Wisconsin experience” for a national audience of music lovers supporting their endeavor. Crowd funding is a popular fund raising model that provides reward levels in exchange for monetary contributions toward a project. “The ‘Cheesiest’ Kickstarter Project Ever” features rewards in the form of our locally made Wisconsin delicacy, cheese curds. Kickstarter’s model uses an all or nothing approach for funding, in which the project must reach its funding goals, or risk not receiving any of the money pledged by project backers.
“Every famous musician or band that a person enjoys was once an unknown and undiscovered talent. They played their music anywhere they could, where ever someone would listen, “said Brian Sauer, President & CEO of Vox Concert Series. “The Vox Concert Series hosts talented emerging and national touring artists in Marshfield, offering a welcoming crowd in Central Wisconsin to play in front of at different local rented venues. Our Kickstarter campaign will help us establish a permanent venue in Marshfield, one pound of cheese curds at a time.”
Last month, Vox and the Marshfield Convention & Visitor’s Bureau received an $18,000 JEM (Joint Effort Marketing) Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to assist with marketing costs of Vox’s Una Sessions Music Festival November 13th- 15th.
By being selected for the grant, the state recognized Vox and the Una Sessions as a tourism driver to bring visitors to Marshfield and Central Wisconsin. This year’s festival is the largest event of Vox’s almost ten year history, featuring Multi-Platinum and Grammy nominated recording artists. The three day festival will feature over 20 national acts, including the talents of Anna Nalick, Matthew Mayfield, Goran Kralj of The Gufs, Sam Llanas and David Berkeley. Una Sessions Music Festival aims to bring people together, promote culture and the arts, and sell more than 700 tickets. Grant funds will go towards print, radio and online media, as well as a public relations plan.
The establishment of a permanent venue would allow Vox Concert Series to feature bigger, more recognizable acts, in addition to emerging talents. Sauer stated, “A Vox venue located downtown would positively impact a variety of area businesses and increase traffic in the downtown area.”
“Vox is a unique attraction that draws visitors to our area,” Marshfield Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Matt McLean said. “Vox concerts provide access to nationally touring artists that would normally bypass rural regions, like Central Wisconsin. Their events bring out of town guests to stay in Marshfield hotels and concert attendees spend money at our area retail and hospitality businesses.”
