Firm recognized for downtown Oshkosh hotel renovation
(Appleton, WI) Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc. has been named a 2014 BUILD Wisconsin Award winner by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Wisconsin. Hoffman was recognized for its renovation of the Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel in downtown Oshkosh which was completed in 2013.
The renovation of the 131,000 square foot facility began with the deconstruction of the interior space. Once completed, the hotel boasted 176 deluxe guestrooms; state-of-the-art meeting and banquet facilities; a fitness center and swimming pool area; lobby and office spaces; an outdoor patio; and the addition of a
full-menu restaurant, the Ground Round at River’s Edge.
“We were very excited to learn that the hotel was recognized by the AGC of Wisconsin,” said Todd Wunderlich, Hoffman project manager for the renovation. “Our goal was to work closely with the owners—RB Hospitality, Pfefferle Companies, Inc., and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Foundation—to bring back this notable downtown Oshkosh facility and make it a draw to conventions, tourists and businesses while benefiting the local community.”
“The importance of this new hotel and what this facility means to downtown Oshkosh, the greater community of Oshkosh, and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus cannot be understated,” said Arthur Rathjen, President of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Foundation. “We selected Hoffman for this project because of their thorough knowledge of the building and its renovation needs, and working with them proved to be a first rate construction experience.”
With the hotel’s selection as a winning project, Hoffman has now received a BUILD Wisconsin Award in five of the last seven years. Hoffman projects previously recognized include The Renaissance Center (Oshkosh), River Crest Elementary School (Hudson), Holy Wisdom Monastery (Madison), and Eden Meadows (Oshkosh).
The AGC of Wisconsin BUILD Wisconsin Awards are designed to celebrate the construction industry’s accomplishments of the year. The awards provide an opportunity for contractors to showcase their skill, integrity, hard work, ingenuity and commitment that goes into each project.
