OSHKOSH, WI 9/16/14 – The Fifth Annual Oshkosh Oktoberfest, a benefit for Cerebral Palsy and Habitat for Humanity, will be held on Saturday October 4th at the corner of 6th Street and Oregon Avenue in Oshkosh . This traditional Oktoberfest is a FREE Community Festival filled with lively entertainment and fun activities. Attendees will enjoy great music throughout the day from German show bands Alte Kameraden, Blaskapelle Milwaukee, Tuba Dan Band, and Copper Box.

Events held throughout the day include an Oktoberfest 2K Bier Run, a Costume Contest, the Oktoberfest Olympics, a Frankfurter Eating Contest, a Cheese Toss Contest, a Children’s Playland and Crafts Tent, and Cultural Displays. Authentic German food and beer will help make it a true, traditional Oktoberfest celebration.

The Festival will also include the ever-popular “Running of the Wieners” – a Dachshund Dog race. Last year over 60 dogs competed for the championship. Oshkosh Oktoberfest promises to be fun for the entire family. There will plenty of fun for the kids, while adults can participate in a German Bier and Wine sampling or eat some authentic German food, such as Krautkuchen or Schnitzel. Oshkosh’s Mayor Burk Tower will tap the ceremonial Oktoberfest Keg in true Oktoberfest tradition at 2:00 pm.

Oshkosh Oktoberfest starts at 11:00 am with the 2K Bier Run and continues all day. Blaskapelle Milwaukee follows the keg tapping ceremony at 2:00 and the dog races start at 3:00. The entire weekend’s schedule and more information on activities can be found at www.OshkoshOktoberfest.com.

Oshkosh Oktoberfest is produced by Oshkosh festivals, Inc, a volunteer-run nonprofit organization founded to help local charities raise money and help local businesses with tourism dollars. Since it’s founding in 2009, the organization has helped raise over $100,000 for local charity groups.
