MADISON- UW Health and the Muscular Dystrophy Association are teaming up and getting into the Ice Bucket Challenge spirit.

When: Monday, August 25, at 5:15pm

Where: Entrance of the Medical Foundation Centennial Building, 1685 Highland Avenue, behind American Family Children’s hospital entrance.

A large group of staff, physicians and representatives from MDA along with the Madison Fire department will take the ice bucket challenge in a big way.

Invites to the UW Ice Bucket Challenge went out Wednesday and the plan is to have as many people as possible soaked all at once using the Madison fire truck’s equipment.

The fire department will gently spray ice-cold water in the air and onto participants who have formed a giant “W” in the area below.

Monetary donations are not required but the invite included online donation information from the MDA at http://www2.mda.org/goto/uwicebucketchallenge

UW Health is one of only 44 MDA ALS centers of excellence in the country. Approximately 50 patients with ALS are seen at UW.

UW Health and MDA have had a partnership since 1986.

Media wishing to attend the event will be able to park right outside the American Family Children’s hospital roundabout and be in close proximity to the main event. Media should not park in the American Family Children’s Hospital ramp. Parking there will not be validated. Interviews will also be available.
