Central Wisconsin River Series: Wind a huge factor in qualifier on Lake Nokomis

Wind a Huge factor in the Wisconsin River Series Qualifier on Lake Nokomis

Lake Nokomis in Tomahawk, WI was the site of the second qualifying tournament in the Central Wisconsin River Series presented by Minnkota and Humminbird on Saturday, June 28th. Forty-five teams took off from the launch ramp in the Town of Bradley in search of the biggest 5-fish limit.

The weather did not exactly cooperate with the anglers . There was no rain, but the very gusty winds throughout the day proved to be a big challenge to some teams. The anglers were targeting largemouth and smallmouth with a legal length of 14″ or more. Several limits were brought to the scales despite the challenging conditions, but many teams were unable to boat five keeper fish.

The Weigh-in started at just after 3:00 p.m. When the scores were tallied, the fifth place team was Trevor Mildenberger and Amanda FIlmore with a 5-fish limit weighing in at 14.01 pounds. The duo also had the biggest smallmouth of the day at 4.10 pounds. Fourth Place was captured by Shaun Kruzitski and Jonah Reese with a 14.40 pound bag and also the biggest largemouth and overall big bass for the day at 4.66 pounds.

Third Place was locked in by the 14.57 pound limit of Matt and Dan Hirman. Andy Dassow and Robin Pester captured second place with five fish weighing in at 14.61 pounds. In the end there was only one team weighing in over 15 pounds. That First Place team was Eric Fix and Dan Firkus with 15.24 pounds in their five fish.

Five teams also qualified for the Championship through this qualifier. Those teams were Matt and Dan Hirman, Trevor Mildenberger and Al Rahlf, Ron Twardowski, Kevin Dillingham and Dan Goldberg, and Tyler White and Paul Schraughnagel. These teams, and those previously qualified will be fishing the two-day Championship Tournament on Lake Mohawksin on September 27th and 28th.

The next stop for the Central Wisconsin River Series presented by Minnkota and Humminbird will be at the Lake Mohawskin qualifier on September 6th.
