Grammy nominated New Orleans musician Marcia Ball to play THELMA

Known world-wide for igniting a roadhouse rhythm and blues party every time she takes the stage, Marcia Ball returns to Fond du Lac June 28.

Her show sold out in 2010 and is on pace again for Saturday’s concert at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA), said Kevin Miller, THELMA executive director.

The concert begins at 8 pm with the bar opening at 7 pm. Tickets are $30 but for THELMA members, tickets are $18. Tickets are available at thelmaarts.org. Tables for four may be reserved by calling 920.921.5410.

Born in Texas, but raised in a musical family in Louisiana, Ball began playing the piano at age 5. During her 40-year career she released 15 solo albums, three of which were nominated for Grammys, and received multiple awards for her New Orleans boogie blues.

In addition to her commanding stage presence at the keyboards, Ball is a master at transfixing an audience with an emotionally-rich, passionately sung ballad. Her most recent album, Roadside Attractions, reflects 40 years of travel and a lifetime of experiences. The album was produced by Gary Nicholson, who has also worked with Delbert McClinton and Wynonna Judd.

Concert goers will be able to purchase Ball’s albums and merchandise, as well as meet her at the concert.

THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and Entertainment District. Learn more about THELMA at thelmaarts.org, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
