Cars on State: Classic Car Show June 7

MADISON, Wis. (March 27, 2014)—The Cars on State Classic Car Show returns to State Street in Madison for an 8th year on Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 10 am to 3 pm. More than 100 classic cars and trucks will be on display on State Street from the State Capitol to the UW campus. For event information, see carsonstate.com or call (608) 512-1342.

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Organizers are looking for cars and trucks more than 20 years old and hope to showcase Madison-area classics in the show. To enter, see carsonstate.com to download an entry form, or call Cas Salas at (608) 347-4035 or Don Beauchamp at (608) 446-3996 to request an entry form. The entry deadline is Wednesday, May 14, 2014.

The event has quickly become a downtown Madison tradition. Cars featured in the 2013 show included a 1926 Ford Lincoln (purchased by the owner’s grandfather from Weber Motor Co. in Milwaukee) , 1928 2-door Ford Roadster, a 1928 Packard 4 door sedan, 1941 Zephyr Convertible (which has crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice), 1958 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, 1966 ¾-ton GMC Fleetside pickup passed down from the owner’s grandfather, a 1966 Volkswagen Bus with camper interior, 1968 Pontiac GTO, a 1973 Plymouth ‘Cuda, a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am (“all original, not restored”), and a 1979 Volkswagen Bug convertible (“last year made”).

This family-friendly event offers a perfect day to come downtown and take a stroll after the Farmers Market on the Square to see a wonderful array of classic cars and trucks, talk to the owners, grab a bite to eat, and shop at downtown businesses, many locally owned. Presented by the Greater State Street Business Association (GSSBA) with support from Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID) and sponsors CarSoup.com and 94.9 WOLX.
