MADISON – Businesses and entrepreneurs interested in quickly and easily
accessing regulatory and resource information should visit the State of
Wisconsin’s online tool, the Business Wizard. The Business Wizard can be
found by clicking on the Business Wizard icon at Department of Commerce
(Commerce) home page, www.commerce.wi.gov.

“Use of the Business Wizard is at an all-time high,” said Department of
Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke. “The site has received over 6,000 hits so
far in January. The Business Wizard has proven to be a useful tool for
entrepreneurs and start-ups looking for state regulatory resource
information.”

The Business Wizard is designed to help visitors determine licensing,
permitting, and regulatory requirements; obtain necessary application forms;
identify available state resources; and access other valuable
business-related information.

From a button on the Commerce home page, the Business Wizard lets the user
describe his or her business and its features and requirements. If the user
is uncertain about an issue such as the type of business incorporation, the
Business Wizard directs the user to an explanatory link. Once the user has
completed the five data entry steps, the Business Wizard instantly develops
a comprehensive, carefully tailored summary. The summary provides state
information that the user may need for the business as well as online access
to required forms or other documents.

The Business Wizard covers 750 state regulations and over 500 business. It
is free and open for business 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more
information about the Business Wizard, contact Tony Hozeny, Commerce, at
