Company Will Create Almost 120 New Jobs, Retain More Than 40 Jobs

JANESVILLE – Governor Jim Doyle announced today that United
Alloy, Inc. will receive $250,000 in Community Development Zone tax credits
from the Department of Commerce to help the company construct a new facility
in Janesville, create almost 120 new jobs, and retain more than 40 jobs.

“My ‘Grow Wisconsin’ initiative calls for helping businesses
make a lasting investment in Wisconsin’s economy,” Governor Doyle said.
“United Alloy is just the kind of business that I like to see investing in
Rock County. This project will stimulate the local economy and create jobs
needed for this community.”

United Alloy is investing $11.1 million over the life of the
project, which will include constructing and equipping an 84,000-sq.-ft.
facility in Janesville. The project will create 118 full-time positions and
retain 43 positions. The company specializes in producing fabricated metal
parts and components for a variety of national companies, including Morgan
Corporation, Generac, and Cummins Power Generation.

“This grant allows United Alloy to support the fastest
growing component of our business – the power generation market – by
launching a comprehensive employee training and development program,” said
Terri Roessler, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of United Alloy,
Inc. “United Alloy appreciates the resources made available to industry by
Governor Doyle and the Department of Commerce.”

Commerce administers the Community Development Zone (CDZ)
program, which offers tax incentives to businesses expanding or locating in
a designated area of economic distress. Businesses can earn income tax
credits for each new job created, assuming one-quarter of the jobs are
filled by target group workers who have faced barriers to employment, such
as those dislocated by a plant closing or currently participating in the
Wisconsin Works (W-2) Program. Businesses can also earn a tax credit for
environmental remediation.
