Milwaukee Home celebrates it first anniversary next month with two significant wins at the nation’s most storied magazine competition. The winners were announced this week in New York City by Folio magazine, the nation’s premier publication covering the magazine industry.

The Folio judges awarded a Gold Eddie Award to Milwaukee Home in the Consumer Shelter category. Competing against magazines from around the country, Milwaukee Home won the top prize for the excellence of its writing, design, content, creativity, and production. Later that same night, Milwaukee Home won a Silver Ozzie Award for best design of a new magazine. A distinguished panel of judges from the magazine industry selects the winners based on design and mission statements.

“We’re thrilled with these awards,” said Anita Matcha publisher of Milwaukee Home “We couldn’t be prouder of our editor Kate Bast, and art director Denise Sauter. In one short year, our subscribers and advertisers have passionately embraced the magazine. It’s nice to know they love it in Manhattan, just like they do in Mequon and Menomonee Falls.”

Milwaukee Home is published six times a year by Trails Media Group Inc. and is available by subscription or at newsstands throughout the greater Milwaukee area.

Earlier this year, its sister publication Wisconsin Trails received five awards for editorial excellence from the International Regional Magazine Association. Wisconsin Trails, the state’s most widely read magazine, received three silver medals and a bronze for feature stories and a certificate of merit for essays. The magazine will celebrate its 45th anniversary in 2005.

Trails Media Group Inc. also publishes Corporate Report Wisconsin, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2005, Wisconsin Meetings, Madguide, custom publications, and quality books about Wisconsin and other Midwestern states.
