VISIT Milwaukee VP to join state agency
MADISON, Wis. (January 5, 2011) — David Fantle, vice president of public relations for VISIT Milwaukee, has been named deputy secretary of tourism for the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. For nearly seven years Fantle has worked for VISIT Milwaukee, the regional convention and visitor’s bureau, in promoting the Milwaukee area as a tourism destination.
Prior to that, Fantle held senior public relations posts at Wisconsin Gas and Kohl’s Corp. Fantle will join newly appointed Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett in marketing and growing the state’s $12 billion annual tourism economy.
“Dave will be an invaluable part of our tourism team,” said Secretary Klett. “We’re going to collaborate with the entire hospitality industry to tell the Wisconsin travel story creatively and support the Governor’s priority initiative of creating jobs.”
Fantle said he is looking forward to the new challenge of marketing the state. “I’m so excited to work with Governor Walker, Secretary Klett, the tourism department staff and our statewide tourism industry to grow the tourism economy, add jobs and position Wisconsin as the premier visitor destination in the upper Midwest.”
Fantle starts in the position on Jan. 24.
