PDS: PDS now authorized value-added reseller for Apple iPads

Regional technology leader now key integrator of Apple products for large organizations

OCONOMOWOC, WI – January 6, 2011 – PDS announced today they are now fully authorized to sell, integrate and support the popular Apple iPad product. With a large healthcare customer base, the Oconomowoc, WI based technology company has been eager to respond to the growing demand from customers for Apple product integration.

“As we see iPads flying into the enterprise, our value will be with the integration,” said Carl Wilhelm, Director of Computing and Print for PDS. “Companies needing a large deployment of iPads, or other Apple products, will benefit from our design, configuration and integration methodologies.”

“While companies have leveraged our best practices for standardizing on specific platforms and compute models, iPads and other emerging form factors are narrowing the focus on applications and the user experience (not just the device),” added Wilhelm. “Our focus is on the client’s user community; their application portfolio; mobile platforms and the underlying infrastructure. Enterprises can quickly integrate multiple platforms if they take the right steps from the start. We help them determine if the Apple products are a good fit, then configure and deploy to their users with patented methodologies and design services.”

The Mayo Clinic, a global leader in quality healthcare, and a 14-year customer of PDS, has just recently finished a major mobility initiative; incorporating their Mobile Synthesis EMR application for use on Apple iTouch, iPhone and iPad products. “The way the clinicians interact with data today is changing, and much of it is due to the Apple line of products,” said Michael Grall, Vice President at PDS. “Smartphone integration saves doctors and nurses a large amount of administration time. As a result, more time is spent with patients.”

If businesses are exploring integrating Apple into their infrastructure, there are many considerations prior to procuring the devices. From the beginning, PDS can help determine which product is the right fit and how to incorporate best practices for integration and maintaining standards for their technology environment.

“It’s not as difficult as one may think. But the right considerations need to be reviewed for any large company, including security, OS compatibility, and application usage,” said Wilhelm.
