St. Croix EDC: Two industrial safety training workshops set for December 8th

Two industrial safety courses will take place on Wednesday, December 8th at the Agriculture and Service Education Center, 1960 8th Avenue, Baldwin, Wisconsin.

Rigging Fundamentals will take place from 8 a.m. to Noon. It is free, but registration is required by contacting Jacki Bradham at St. Croix EDC (715) 381-4383 or jacki@stcroixedc.com. The course is designed for construction and industry personnel who are currently, or are in training to be, responsible for the operation of cranes and hoists, the rigging of suspended loads, or the development of a written lift plan.

An afternoon session, runs from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. is entitled Emerging Issues with OSHA. The cost is $20.00 per participant, and registration can be made by contacting Jacki Bradham at St. Croix EDC (715) 381-4383 or jacki@stcroixedc.com. The program will cover some of the new requirements and penalties as a result of a greater emphasis on OSHA compliance through enforcement. Attendees will examine what OSHA enforces and what may be missing in most safety programs that lead to citations.

The two workshops are presented by Hennepin Technical College, in conjunction with the Northwest Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers, with collaborative support from UW-Extension and St. Croix Economic Development Corporation. The morning course is provided at no cost through a Susan Harwood Grant awarded to Customized Training services, Hennepin Technical College.
