[Madison, Wisconsin] — Junior Achievement is recognizing E. David Locke with the Bronze Leadership Award for exceptional service and volunteerism to the organization. JA is dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about business, economics, and the free enterprise system. The organization will impact nearly 9000 students in the Dane County area this year.

The national award recognizes individuals who have provided leadership within their community. Locke is the Chairman and CEO of McFarland State Bank. His leadership efforts were instrumental in establishing a Junior Achievement program in Dane County including development of the board of directors. During Locke’s tenure as chairman of the board, programs expanded from serving 1400 students in 2006 to nearly 7000 students in 2009. Those programs help prepare students for the global economy utilizing a network of business volunteers who present a curriculum focused on work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

“The leadership and guidance that David has provided to our operation in Dane County is invaluable,” said Tim Greinert, president of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. John O. Larsen, current chairman of the board in Dane County adds “With the help of David’s passion for Junior Achievement, Dane County has been able to grow its presence here at a phenomenal rate. David has helped us demonstrate that Junior Achievement is an important piece of educational success in our community.”
