MILWAUKEE— A challenging problem affecting neighborhoods and individuals is the focus of an upcoming community conference. The tenth annual Community Development Summit will examine foreclosures in Milwaukee on October 12th.

Speakers from a range of different disciplines will discuss impacts of foreclosures, available resources in the region, best practices to address foreclosures, and the evolving national response to this aspect of the financial crisis.

One of the featured speakers is John Taylor, President and CEO of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. Taylor is a leading national expert on economic justice, neighborhood, and housing issues.

In addition to sharing practical information to address the immediate foreclosure crisis, participants will discuss the ongoing efforts to prevent a repetition of the current challenges in future years. Additional attention will be directed toward strengthening neighborhoods.

The summit is sponsored by the Urban Economic Development Association along with the City of Milwaukee.
