PEWAUKEE, Wis. (September –, 2010) – Waukesha County Technical College today announced that Quad/Graphics Inc. has received the 2010 Technical Education Champion Award from the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association. WCTC nominated Quad/Graphics for the award, which recognizes key community and industry leaders who demonstrate an exemplary level of partnership to promote technical education and economic development.

WCTC President Dr. Barbara Prindiville said the school nominated Quad/Graphics because of its outstanding support for the college. Quad/Graphics partners with WCTC by serving on advisory committees, providing generous scholarships to students and making charitable gifts to the college, as well as providing youth apprenticeships and internships and hiring graduates from a variety of program areas.

“Quad/Graphics is composed of ordinary people motivated to accomplish extraordinary things,” Prindiville said. “Their support and commitment to WCTC and technical education in Wisconsin is a great example. They are a true partner to excellence in education.”

Quad/Graphics – the second-largest print and multimedia provider in the world and one of the largest employers in Southeast Wisconsin – was chosen among nine nominees for this year’s award. Criteria include enhancement of the community as a whole and utilization of technical colleges for employee training and hiring.

“Wisconsin is fortunate to have an excellent technical education system that provides students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workplace,” said Joel Quadracci, Quad/Graphics Chairman, President & CEO. “We are proud of our long-standing relationship with Waukesha County Technical College. The support we give the college is an investment in our company’s future and the future of Wisconsin and everyone who lives and works here. We will continue to support the technical college system, and I encourage other businesses to do the same.”
