Sheboygan Co. Economic Development Corporation: Drinan appointed to Bay Area Workforce Development Board

Patrick Drinan, Executive Director of the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC), has been appointed to a three-year term on the Bay Area Workforce Development Board. The Bay Area Workforce Development Board (http://www.bayareawdb.org) covers a 10-county area that includes Brown, Door, Florence, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Shawano, and Sheboygan Counties.

The Bay Area Workforce Development Board is responsible for planning and overseeing the local workforce development program and serves three purposes: 1) regional strategic planning to promote the strength and vitality of the regional workforce; 2) oversight of the “system” of employment and training services available in the local area through “One-Stop” job centers; and 3) direct administration of several specific employment and training programs, including services for dislocated workers.

According to Drinan, the appointment will benefit Sheboygan County by providing another local representative on the regional board. “Displaced worker training and incumbent worker training are significant needs throughout the Bay Area and in Sheboygan County,” said Drinan. “It is critical that these needs are communicated to the Workforce Development Board, and resources are allocated to assist employers in meeting hiring needs. From job readiness training, to rapid response services for dislocated workers, to occupational skills training and on-the-job training, the resources and services available from the Bay Area Workforce Development Board meet the needs of job seekers and employers, and contribute to strengthening Wisconsin’s economy.”
