Middleton, Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources welcomed Standard Imaging into their Green Tier program, an initiative aimed at furthering business goals through sustainable practices, during an event held at Standard Imaging’s Middleton headquarters on Monday.

The Green Tier program, the first of its type in the nation, rewards businesses that surpass certain legal benchmarks set by the DNR to encourage environmentally-conscious management and production.

“Since moving to our new building, which uses solar and geothermal energy, sustainability has increasingly become an integral part of our business, so Green Tier seemed like a natural fit,” said Standard Imaging, President Ed Neumueller. “They challenge us to grow our company without increasing our environmental footprint, and we’re excited to exceed their expectations.”

According to Secretary Matt Frank of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Standard Imaging’s ability to compete globally, while maintaining roots in Middleton, sets an excellent precedent for future Green Tier partners.

“There are few companies that have been as well recognized as Standard Imaging,” Frank said. “If anyone doubts Wisconsin’s ability to compete in business world-wide, they need to come to Standard Imaging.”

In addition to this Green Tier certification, Standard Imaging has received a number of environmental rewards and certifications, including the 2010 In Business Magazine and Sustain Dane Sustainable Small Business of the Year Award and the 2008 WMC Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award for Environmental Stewardship, small company category.

“Standard Imaging for years has been the poster child for good, local business,” said Middleton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Van Nutt. “Here is an entity that does it right.”

Standard Imaging is a leading manufacturer of radiation calibration and quality assurance instruments for healthcare. The company was founded in 1989, and has continually grown to become a leader in the medical physics field.
