(Milwaukee, Sept. 13, 2010 –) Before you know it October will arrive, and that means National Customer Service Week and Batzner Pest Management’s Annual Madagascar Hissing Cockroach Races in honor of that special week. Races will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Batzner’s New Berlin corporate headquarters. Roaches selected by company employees will “zip” along on a custom-built, 8-foot racetrack. Those backing the winning insect will be able to designate a charity of their choice [501(c)(3) organizations only] for a $250 donation of company funds

But there’s a new slant to the event this year, according to Jerry Batzner, president of the 60+-year-old family owned company. “We’re also holding another special race– our first annual Madagascar Hissing Cockroach Race Invitational for Wisconsin and Northern Illinois media,” he announced. Representatives of participating radio, TV and print media will be able to enter their own Madagascar Hissing Cockroach in the race and Batzner will donate $250 on behalf of the winner to the charity of their choice [501(c)(3) organizations only].

This species of cockroach originated in the island of Madagascar, off the coast of Africa. Batzner keeps them as pets in his offices and as an educational tool, too.

Customer Service Week allows the Batzner company to recognize the important contributions made by their customer service professionals. Batzner’s customer service specialists will participate in games and other activities during the week, which runs October 4 – 8, 2010. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
