Letters of Intent Signed

Waunakee – Construction of the Wisconsin Regional Sports Complex, a premiere athletic facility that will house the first full-size indoor lacrosse, soccer and football field in the state, is expected to begin in Waunakee in the spring of 2011. Planned tenants of the highly anticipated project include: various soccer and lacrosse clubs including Waunakee Soccer and Lacrosse; Verona Lacrosse; a health and fitness club; a restaurant/pub; a medical and rehabilitation clinic; a climbing wall; a retail sports store; multi-tenant retail space, and much more. Letters of intent have been signed by several parties. Pre-leasing of retail space will be handled by the Trowbridge Group of Waunakee at 608-849-9789.

The Village of Waunakee has preliminarily approved the project. The proposed site is just east of Culvers on Highway 19, approximately five minutes from Interstate 90.

Deb and Bill Glenn of Madison, founders of the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation and MALA, are working with developer Trowbridge Group to create the sports complex. Opening bids for naming rights of the field are currently being accepted.

WHO: This year marks the tenth anniversary since Madison resident Deb Glenn founded the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation and MALA (Madison Area Lacrosse Association). The sport has grown to incorporate thousands of youth of all ages, high school, and college students around the state.

The highly anticipated Wisconsin Regional Sports Complex plans include: a restaurant/pub; a medical and rehabilitation clinic; a climbing wall; a health and fitness club, and much more. UW Lacrosse, MALA, and many soccer and lacrosse clubs have signed letters of intent.

WHY: The Village of Waunakee has preliminarily approved the project and stands behind the McFarland/Glenn efforts. Kevin Even, the village engineer and interim village administrator, says that the Village of Waunakee stands behind the project.

WHEN: The building process will begin soon, and time/space allotment sheets for those interested in renting space in the facility are currently being collected. Opening bids for naming rights of the field are being taken now.

WHERE: The proposed building site is just east of Culvers on Highway 19, approximately five minutes from the interstate in Waunakee, Wisconsin.
