MADISON – Gov. Jim Doyle today announced that the Village of Randolph, Dodge County will receive a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant – Emergency Assistance Program (CDBG-EAP) from the Department of Commerce (Commerce) for assistance with flood damage.

“I am pleased that we are able to provide funding to help the Village of Randolph make repairs after recent hard rains,” said Gov. Doyle. “Severe flooding in May and June damaged around 250 households in this village of 1,869 residents.”

The Village of Randolph will use the grant to help between 35 to 50 low- and moderate-income (LMI) households replace electrical boxes, furnaces, and water heaters and fix foundations damaged by the flooding.

Commerce has administered the federally funded CDBG-EAP program since 1993. These grants provide funds to address housing needs that occur as a direct result of natural or manmade disasters. Grants are awarded to cities, towns, counties, and villages with populations less than 50,000 and for the primary use of low- and moderate-income residents. For further information on the CDBG-EAP program, contact Caryn Stone, Commerce, at 608/267-3682.
