American Speed Association: Former ASA Series star adds his voice to the ASA Midwest tour

SCOTT HANSEN JOINS THE ASAMT BROADCAST TEAM FOR THE “DIXIELAND 150”

By: Kari Shear-Carlson

(Monday, August 16, 2010) Former ASA star, Scott Hansen will be co-hosting the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net broadcast of the “Dixieland 150” on Fox Sports North and Fox Sports Wisconsin this Saturday, August 21st.

Hansen started racing in the ASA series in 1989 and is fifth on the all-time winners list in the ASA Racing series. He contributes much of his success to well-known crew chief, Howie Lettow. “That name alone meant instant success,” said Hansen.

Scott’s favorite part about competing in the ASA series was the strong competition, team effort, live pit stops, and of course the fans. While today’s ASA Midwest Tour does not have live pit stops and the length of the races are a little shorter, there is still strong competition, team effort, and great fans.

When asked about his thoughts on the relationship that the ASAMT has with Fox Sports North and the broadcasting of the events, Hansen replied, “Anytime you have television, it is great for the series and the competitor’s notoriety.”

Hansen will be commentating along side Jim Tretow. In 1992, Hansen was a color commentator for TNN for a couple of ASA races. With his experience in racing and personal success at Wisconsin International Raceway, Scott will be a great addition to the broadcast.

Be sure to tune in or set your DVR’s to Fox Sports North and Fox Sports Wisconsin as Scott Hansen joins Jim Tretow, Bill Holland and Jana Jurkovich for the airing of the ASA Midwest Tour “Dixieland 150” at 11:30CDT this Saturday, August 21st.
