(Madison, WI) On Saturday, August 28, 2010 the Clean Lakes Festival, sponsored by Lands’ End, will take place at Olin Park on the shores of Lake Monona in Madison, WI. The one-day festival is free and open to the public. The festival will feature a variety of events that connect to the lakes, and that offer competitors, spectators and those that just want to give it a try, a chance to experience the fun and excitement of Madison’s lakes

Clean Lakes Festival is host to amazing events like wind surfing lessons and a barefoot skiing competition that will bring in some the nation’s most competitive athletes. There will be live music throughout the day, an education center to provide information on preserving and improving our water resources and several fun, kid-friendly activities. Proceeds raised at the festival go toward long-term clean lake management projects for Dane County lakes and streams.

New this year is the Lands’ End sailing regatta, the rowing challenge, the milk carton boat regatta and a log rolling competition and demo.

“We are so pleased with the success of the last three festivals and that we have continued to grow the Clean Lakes Festival. This year’s will be the largest one yet,” says Don Heilman, Festival Chairman. “With the addition of Lands’ End and several other prominent sponsors we will be able to bring more awareness, fun and money to support our area lakes and streams,” adds Heilman.

The Clean Lakes Festival was founded in 2007 by the Mad-City Water Ski Team. Over the team’s 50 years of being located in downtown Madison, they saw a decline in the water quality. The team formed the festival to create awareness and raise money to support Dane County lake clean-up projects. The group has donated almost $100,000 from the three previous festivals.
