SM Advisors: Van Remortel receives 2010 Business Person of the Year Award

Business strategist, national speaker and author recognized for contributing to growth of companies

Green Bay, WI — Steve Van Remortel, president of SM Advisors, a strategic planning and talent management consulting firm in Green Bay, received the 2010 Business Person of the Year Award. The award was presented by the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce at its annual Business Recognition Luncheon attended by over 500 business and community leaders.

Van Remortel was recognized for demonstrating entrepreneurial excellence and community leadership, and for making significant contributions to businesses. In addition to his ability to help businesses develop and stay focused on their key strategies and talent management, Van Remortel is also known as an evangelist in preaching to individuals the importance of following your own passion in order to set the stage for future success.

In his acceptance remarks, Van Remortel encouraged business owners to develop a plan to achieve their professional and personal dreams of financial freedom. “Those who plan profit,” said Van Remortel. “A customized strategy can help increase the health of an organization as well as the individuals on its team.”

He has more than 20 years of experience in developing and executing business plans as an executive of, and advisor to, privately-held organizations. Under his direction, SM Advisors has completed more than 450 planning processes and has worked in over 250 industries throughout the country.

Van Remortel is currently writing a book, Stop Selling Vanilla Ice Cream, which will discuss how companies must differentiate themselves from the competition to drive sales and profit growth.
