Middleton, Wisconsin, July 14, 2010 – Standard Imaging is pleased to be hosting a series of talks July 18th – July 21st at the American Association of Physicists in Medicine’s (AAPM) Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. The talks will take place at Standard Imaging’s booth, number 325, and will focus on a variety of innovative quality assurance trends and products.

Presenters, comprised of leading medical physics and subject matter experts, will address topics ranging from the QA needs for the next generation of linear accelerators to outlining an end-to- end test for stereotactic radiosurgery.

“We’re excited to see such a broad spectrum of topics being covered by such qualified speakers,” said Diane Washa, Standard Imaging Marketing Director. “These talks will facilitate and advance QA innovations and best practices among medical physicists and help ensure safe practices within radiation oncology.”

Additionally, Standard Imaging will showcase the new capabilities of several of its core products, including the new IMSure QA Software Brachytherapy Module, which allows users to perform secondary checks of HDR, LDR and permanent seed implants on a single-spaced interface.

New features in RT Workspace (RTWS), Standard Imaging’s workflow software aimed at optimizing patient care and improving workflow during radiotherapy treatment, further expedite communication and patient planning. “The new capabilities of RT Workspace 2.0 allow a site to place their secured patient database on the web. This lets physicists, doctors and dosimetrists view planning and treatment information on external networks,” said RTWS Product Manager Neal Miller. “This, combined with RTWS’s new three-tier user hierarchy, and the ability to receive email alerts when paired with any external mail server, ensures that patient care and security doesn’t stop at a clinic’s doors.”

Standard Imaging will also highlight StructSure Software, a quantitative and qualitative QA tool for anatomy contouring. StructSure was recently used during the Contouring Challenge (http://www.contouringchallenge.com), a competition created to bring attention to the fact that anatomy contouring remains a large source of variation in radiation oncology.
