APPLETON, July 13, 2010 – Appleton was named one of the Top 100 “Best Places to Live” in the country in the 2010 edition of Money Magazine’s annual list.

The list ranks America’s small cities based on a number of factors that appeal to families, including available jobs, quality of schools, crime rates, recreational opportunities, and quality of life, among others.

“Appleton is one of many great communities we have here in the New North, and it’s great to see it get the recognize it deserves,” said Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of the New North, Inc. “With great schools, safe neighborhoods, and lots of fun, family-friendly activities, the New North as a region is one of the best places in the country to raise a family.”

Money praised Appleton’s Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, restaurants, shops, and art galleries, as well as the city’s “safe, family-friendly” atmosphere and abundance of area employers.
