Brookfield, Wis. – Most every business owner dreams of their company taking off like a rocket, succeeding beyond their wildest expectations in a short period of time.
They probably don’t see the potential pitfalls of unrestrained, unplanned business growth. There are many, and they can be deep.
A June 25 seminar, “Building Companies,” will examine the many reasons why growing businesses fail, and how they can grow smartly and continuously while minimizing risk to owners and partners. The free event is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at U.S. Bank Brookfield Square, 205 N. Moorland Road.
“It’s very easy to make mistakes during startup, and phases of rapid business growth, that can have serious long-term consequences,” said Timothy Lantz, President of Pantheon BC, who will lead the seminar. “Because the prospect and process of growth is so exciting, owners often don’t take time to consider whether their companies are growing at the right pace, and whether they are appropriately managing company resources and risk to build a solid, sustainable future.”
“The most critical errors in growth strategy are tied to overconfidence, poor long-term planning and general misperceptions of how successful growth is measured,”Lantz said. For example, one common error is companies overextending themselves on real estate or other capital expenditures.
The June 25 seminar will discuss the primary phases of business momentum, identify common pitfalls that businesses encounter, and offer guidance on how to mitigate these challenges. Case studies will be utilized to detail real-life scenarios.
