Green Bay, WI – The pace is picking up for registration and fundraising for the 19th annual PetWalk benefitting Bay Area Humane Society. PetWalk is a non-competitive 3-mile walk that starts and ends at the Shelter grounds.

Participants can register ahead of time online at BayAreaHumaneSociety.org, where they’ll find a great list of incentives they can receive for meeting their fundraising goals. The rewards start at $75 with a t-shirt and bandana, and accumulate as their donations increase.

Over 700 pets and people take part in the walk that starts at 9:00 a.m. It’s not just for dogs – all sorts of well-behaved pets and people without pets are welcome. People can also participate without a pet at all, as most cats would appreciate staying home instead.

“It’s really exciting watching the people competing for the top 3 individual fundraising honors,” said Lisa Kay Peters, Development Director for the Shelter. Peters continued, “We started something new where their pet will be featured on the PetWalk Tshirt next year … and it’s wonderful to see so many people so proud of their pets that they’re working hard for those top spots!”

Steve and Laura from Star 98 host the day for a fun morning with lots of family activities including:

* Microchip identification for your dog or cat for just $15

* Meet a representative from Dog Scouts of America

* Complimentary Dermatological screenings

* Meet the Bullfrogs Mascot and get your ticket to the first ever “bring your dog day” game

* Pet participative games

* Face painting and glitter tattoos, shopping, and learning at sponsor tables

* And more!

Because Bay Area Humane Society does not receive funding from government or national animal welfare organizations, PetWalk is a critical fundraiser that helps cover the costs of providing care, protection and placement for thousands of lost and abandoned animals in our area each year.
