UWM: Great Lakes Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Conference set for May 21

Time: 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Location: University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Union, 2nd floor Wisconsin Room, 2200 East Kenwood Blvd.

Details: This 16th annual conference addresses the role of pavement and geotechnical engineering in transportation infrastructure and will feature a presentation on the reconstruction of the I-94 North-South corridor in Southeast Wisconsin. Other conference highlights include two keynote speakers:

* “Towards Long-Lasting Flexible Pavements,” by Imad Al-Qadi, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, an internationally renowned pavement expert.

* “Performance Verification of Deep Foundations with Design-Build Project Delivery,” by Dan Brown, President, Dan Brown and Associates, Sequatchie, Tenn.

Two awards will also be presented:

* Distinguished Geotechnical Engineer in the Region, Eric W. Bahner, P.E., D.GE, M.ASCE (Edward G. Gillen Co.)

* Outstanding Geotechnical Engineering Educator in the Region, Professor Tuncer B. Edil, P.E., D.GE (UW-Madison)
