The state Department of Revenue reported today that Wisconsin saw job growth in the first few months of 2010 and projected additional job growth through the rest of the year.
DOR also said the state has started adding jobs earlier than previously expected. But the agency still expects 2010 to show a 1 percent decline in the average number of jobs for the year compared to 2009.
The agency also tweaked its estimate of the severity of the state’s job losses during the recession, based on new numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
DOR now says the recession cost the state 194,100 jobs, compared to a projected loss of 163,800 jobs in the February report.
The report projects 1.6 percent job growth in 2011 and 2.6 percent in 2012.
Personal income is expected to increase 3 percent in 2010.
