In response to Governor Doyle’s announcement that the Monona Terrace Convention Center would be the location for a Madison high-speed rail station, Jennifer Alexander, President of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce and Thrive, the economic development enterprise for the eight-county region, issued the following statement:

This is an exciting announcement for Madison and the region. High-speed rail is an investment in Madison’s long-term future and one that holds great promise to add tangible value to the regional and state economies.

Connecting the urban hubs of business in Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago will position our region to more effectively compete with other global centers of commerce.

A high speed rail station in the urban hub of the Madison Region has the potential to attract significant investment, increase business and promote tourism.
