Batzner: Reminds you to watch out for “the top ten pests of spring”

Jerry Batzner or Chris Venuti, 262-797-4160

(New Berlin, April 2, 2010) – David Letterman’s “Top Ten List” on late night network TV is an example of his offbeat humor. But what’s not funny is Jerry Batzner’s list of

“Top Ten Pests of Spring.”

That’s a serious list for area business owners and residents to consider, the long-time pest control professional advises. “Now that warmer weather is here, these pests look for food hoping to invade your living or work areas. If they do get in they can cause property and/or structural damage and even threaten your health,” he says.

So, with apologies to Letterman, Batzner, president of Batzner Pest Management, New Berlin, cautions area residents to look out for his “Top Ten Pests of Spring”:

1. Carpenter Ants/Pavement Ants

2. Wasps

3. Carpenter Bees/Honey Bees

4. Centipedes

5. Spiders

6. Rats/Mice

7. Voles

8. Squirrels

9. Moles

10. Raccoons

These, and other potential visitors, can enter through tiny holes in your structure’s foundation, plumbing or a shed. Insect eggs can be transported on clothing or furnishings.

“Professional pest management companies, such as ours, can stop these pests from causing illness, destroying homes and property and contaminating food,” says Batzner. “We’ll get rid of them for you. And we’ll do it by utilizing integrated pest management (IPM), a control program that over recent years has relied less and less on the use of pesticides and more on baits, traps, sanitation, and exclusion techniques," he says.

Batzner Pest Management calls their IPM program the B.A.N. (Balanced As Nature) System™, which guarantees continuous pest protection.

"Many people contact us because they’re concerned about pests in general. They’ve never had an infestation of any kind and don’t want to take a chance on one. We’ll scout their property for entry points, and plug these up after we've taken appropriate pest management steps," he explains.

“We were among the first professional pest control firms in Wisconsin to develop and implement a successful IPM program,” he says. “Going green has never been so important. Our goal is to help our world become a much healthier place. We’re the only company officially able to provide QualityProGreen™ and Green Shield Certified™ services in the state.

These certifications mandate that we not only follow guidelines as to how we provide our green services, but also ensure that we employ non-chemical ways to eliminate pests.

As part of these programs, we are audited by two independent third parties to make sure we’re following the practices and guidelines set forth by each.”

Batzner’s company has been in business for more than 60 years and has been a family owned business for all that time. Along with Milwaukee, they have service centers in Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, Racine and Madison.
