Milwaukee Brewers special plates will help retire Miller Park stadium construction debt
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles will begin issuing Milwaukee Brewers special plates today (Monday, March 29, 2010).
Once initial production costs are covered, all proceeds from the Milwaukee Brewers license plates will go to the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District, which oversees Miller Park on behalf of the taxpayers of the five counties comprising the district. The District will receive the extra $25 donation provided by purchasers, less a two percent licensing fee to Major League Baseball. All proceeds received by the District will be fully and solely dedicated to the retirement of the Miller Park stadium construction debt.
Purchasers may select from two Milwaukee Brewers plate designs – the Milwaukee Brewers current “M” logo and the Brewers retro “ball and glove” logo. “Wisconsin” is printed at the top and “Milwaukee Brewers” is printed at the bottom of each plate design.
Milwaukee Brewers plates are available for automobiles, motor homes (with annual registration only), light trucks having a gross weight of 4,500, 6,000 or 8,000 pounds including dual purpose farm and dual purpose motor homes and 12,000 pound gross weight farm trucks.
In addition to the regular registration fees paid for the vehicle, the Milwaukee Brewers plates carry an issuance fee of $15 for non-personalized plates, plus an annual $25 donation (may be tax-deductible). Personalized Milwaukee Brewers plates are also available with a $15 fee required each year in addition to the annual registration fee and the annual $25 donation.
