MADISON, Wis. — Summit Credit Union has donated $10,000 to the East Madison Community Center (EMCC) to support the expansion of the Center’s “Fit for the Future” program which provides fitness activities and nutrition services for at-risk youth and families.

“Thanks to Summit’s generous support, we can maintain and expand the Fit for the Future program in 2010,” said Tom Moen, EMCC executive director. “From staffing and serving nutritious food to sponsoring off-site activities and purchasing gym equipment, Summit’s contributions have made a significant impact in helping more than 300 at-risk youth as well as hundreds of area adults become healthier citizens.”

Established in 2009, Fit for the Future was the first program offered in the EMCC’s new 13,000 square-foot wellness and multi-purpose facility expansion. Nearly 200 fitness and nutrition sessions are planned for 2010, including educational sessions focusing on budgeting for meals and cooking as well as a variety of wellness activities ranging from dance to basketball.

Summit Credit Union has been a supporter of EMCC for more than 25 years and was the recipient of the EMCC’s Community Partnership Award in 2008.
