MADISON, WI — Tip off fever is in the air and Madison is anticipating the wave of high school basketball teams and fans from the most Northern part of the state to the home town squads down the street. The annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Boys and Girls basketball championships will put Madison Center Circle as the host to these events.

Open to the public, the tournaments are a perfect opportunity to become part of this yearly sports phenomenon. Even if your school isn’t battling on the courts, with tickets at $8 per person, this is the chance to see some of the state’s top athletes take it to the hoop at the Kohl Center and vie for a championship. Pick a team and cheer them on!

The Boys and Girls Basketball championships combined will bring 133,000 spectators and close to 840 athletes and coaches into Madison:

* Girls Basketball, March 25 – 27, The Kohl Center

“The WIAA tournaments are fantastic events we look forward to each year,” said Deb Archer, CEO and President of the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau, “They are an integral part of our local economy and bring excitement and energy to our hospitality industry.”

Joined by parents, friends and enthusiastic fans, these athletes bring their game and their wallets when they visit Madison. WIAA tournaments make a significant impact on the bottom line for Madison area hotels, restaurants and retail venues.
