MADISON – The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) and the Office of the Commissioner of Railroads (OCR) will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2010 as employees take one of 16 furlough days required for all state workers in the next two years. The PSC and the OCR will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, February 16, 2010.

Consumers requiring assistance with electric, natural gas, telephone, and water service disputes may file complaints online at http://psc.wi.gov/apps35/complaint/default.aspx during this time. The PSC Consumer Affairs telephone line, 1-800-225-7729, which offers live assistance, will be available on February 16.

Employee furloughs for all state employees are part of the 2009 – 2011 state budget. The furlough program will temporarily reduce salary costs by assigning employees to various dates or periods of unpaid time during what would otherwise have been scheduled work time.
