Patrick Drinan has been named the first Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) Executive Director. From Hartford Wisconsin, Drinan leaves a nine-year post as Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Brookfield.

Drinan will be joined by Jessica S. Potter, Elkhart Lake, who will serve as Community Development and Research Specialist. Together they will lead the SCEDC in developing and administering innovative programs designed to create a stronger and more diversified economy in Sheboygan County.

The SCEDC, newly formed in August 2009, was established to work toward a stronger economy in Sheboygan County through job growth, talent attraction and regional economic cooperation. “Previously the Sheboygan Development Council, the Sheboygan County Chamber, and various governments and municipalities worked individually to accomplish these goals. Now we will be working together with a coordinated strategic plan under Director Drinan’s leadership,” said Gary Dulmes, SCEDC Chairman.

Previous to his position in Brookfield, Drinan served as Senior Economic Development Planner for the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission and Economic Development Coordinator in Sullivan, Indiana. He is also currently president of the Wisconsin Economic Development Association. Drinan has earned degrees in Urban Planning and Development and Environment Design from Ball State University.

Potter has served as Sheboygan County’s Land Use Planner since June, 2006. In that capacity, she managed a $238,000 grant for comprehensive planning within the county and encompassing the eight county municipalities. She has also worked to develop a “road map for economic success” for Sheboygan County and written an economic development component for each municipality. Potter has previously served as a consultant to the SCEDC.

Potter earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in Public Administration, Environmental Policy and Planning, and Political Science. She has also completed graduate course work in Public Administration, Political Science and Nonprofit Management at UW Milwaukee.

“There is no more important issue facing Sheboygan County than it’s economic health and well-being,” said Dulmes. “We are confident that we now have strong SCEDC leadership, and we are eager to move forward.”

Drinan and Potter assumed their new positions in January. Persons wishing to contact the SCEDC with concerns and suggestions may do so by calling 920-452-2350 or emailing drinapwd@co.sheboygan.wi.us.
