Wisconsin Technology Council: Veteran entrepreneur to discuss successful business plan pitches at Nov. 17 WIN-Northeast meeting

Veteran entrepreneur and investor Paul Jones will present “Preparing and pitching a business plan to investors and lenders” at the Tuesday, Nov. 17 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network Northeast Chapter.

Jones is an entrepreneur, angel and institutional venture capital investor and manager with an extensive track record of creating and acquiring businesses and defining and implementing business plans in diverse technology-driven industries.

The event will be held at the D J Bordini Center, 5 Systems Drive, near the Fox Valley Technical College campus in Appleton. Registration and networking begin at 4:45 p.m. The cost is $5 for WIN members, $5 for students, $10 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships. Jones will discuss the fundamentals of writing a business plan and how one must prepare to pitch their plan to investors and lenders. He will share personal insight drawn from his experiences as an entrepreneur and investor. Jones will illustrate some of the challenges, opportunities and pitfalls of preparing to pitch to investors.

Currently, Jones is of counsel at Michael Best & Friedrich, LLP, where he works with emerging technology-driven companies and their investors, and is the entrepreneur-in-residence at the UW-Oshkosh College of Business. Throughout his career, Jones has played leadership roles in securing more than $150 million of private and public capital for various firms and also co-founded a venture capital management firm.
